Interview with Kelly Jamieson, Author of The Ozone | NewInBooks

[ad_1]

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The O Zone?

My stories are often a bunch of little things that intrigue me pulled together. I started with the idea of a player falling for the owner’s daughter, but it ended up being a lot different than I initially thought. I was also intrigued by the main female character being a busker, a musician who doesn’t want fame and fortune, she just wants to make music.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love to read steamy contemporary romance so yes, it’s definitely the same as what I write! I write the books I’d love to read.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Dirty Deal by Mira Lynn Kelly, Game Misconduct by Evan Moore and Jashvina Shah (non-fiction)

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I cracked myself up writing the scene where Emerie is at the hockey game and her ex-boyfriend is explaining hockey to her–very badly. 🙂

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

No, I don’t! I have chill indie music playing in the background and I drink a lot of coffee, but those aren’t that quirky!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I wrote a book that used this philosophy (Dancing in the Rain). It helped me get through some really tough times. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

We are all worth loving.
